- Gratuities are generally paid on the pre-tax amount of your bill.
- Tip discreetly; it is a private matter.
- Tips are usually given in the form of money, although where you have built up a relationship with someone, for example the maitre d' at your favourite restaurant, then a small gift during holidays, may be added in addition to a tip.
- At buffet restaurants, tips are still generally expected, but at a lower rate than usual - about 10%.
