We understand the problems that many of you are facing during the COVID-19 crisis, in both your personal and business lives. It's at times like these that we need to adapt and rise to the challenge.
Speaking with Chefs and foodservice businesses across the country over the past few days, we have been inspired by the many members who have quickly switched gears to adapt to the growing demands for custom meal kits and meal delivery services etc. coming from families of the elderly, from those who in our communities who are providing essential services during the crisis (e.g. healthcare workers, grocery store staff, postal workers...) and also to families isolating themselves, who don't want to or can't leave home.
In many areas, commercial kitchens have been deemed as 'essential services' allowing chefs, caterers and other foodservice businesses to continue their businesses and cook for their clients. If you are interested in renting a commercial kitchen for a few hours or a few days each month, we have a network in many parts of the country and may be able to help you connect with one in your area.
For our members who would like to add a commercial kitchen to their certificate of insurance, contact our officeContact Us - we will provide revised certificates as quickly as possible.
For members who are preparing meals or meal kits for delivery to clients, remember that delivery by the members themselves to clients (don't forget to use insulated foodservice bags/boxes and to inform your auto insurance company that you are using it for business purposes) or by professional delivery companies (such as Uber Eats or Skip-The-Dishes) is covered by their liability insurance. For more details on Membership options, please contact our office.
Through this trying time, we hope that you will stay safe, be kind and remain connected to your friends, family and those who need your support.
